Edict 2

By the power herein vested in me by myself, I do now reimpose an edict issued by my predecessor in 1872:

"Whoever after due and proper warning shall be heard to utter the abominable word "Frisco", which has no linguistic or other warrant, shall be deemed guilty of a High Misdemeanor, and shall pay into the Imperial Treasury as penalty the sum of twenty-five dollars."

Edict 1

By imperial decree, I, Emperor Devon I of the United States, do hereby extend royal knighthood to David Johnson, the right honorable World Famous Bushman, and to all the those brave enough to walk the streets of San Francisco without home or family.

Declaration of Empire

At the implicit peremptory request and desire of an assumed majority of the citizens of these United States, I, Devon, of Berkeley, California, declare and proclaim the reestablishment of the honorable dynasty established one hundred and fifty-one years ago under the right honorable Emperor Norton I, and do summarily establish myself Emperor of these U. S.; and in virtue of the authority thereby in me vested, do hereby order and direct the representatives of the different States of the Union to, at my behest and decree, amend the existing laws and regulations by which our great nation has been corrupted and debilitated. Under my sanctions the people of this great Empire may restore their confidence in the stability and sanity of their government.

~Emperor DEVON I of the United States
